Moist Banana Bread Recipe

I have tried several banana bread recipes throughout the years and this moist banana bread recipe is definitely my favorite. It may sound weird, but sour cream is the secret ingredient to this banana bread’s amazing texture. For a great morning treat, toast slices of the banana bread and spread with cream cheese.

Moist Banana Bread Recipe


  • 4 large ripe bananas (or 6 small)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 tablespoons sour cream


  1. Mix dry ingredients together. Sift.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream softened butter with the sugar and salt. Mix in eggs, vanilla and sour cream. Mix until just blended.
  3. Add flour mix to the batter. When making banana bread, use ripe soft bananas. Mash into bowl and add into mixture.
  4. Spray a Bundt pan with cooking spray or grease with fresh butter.
  5. Pour batter into pan. Bake in preheated 350 F for 1 hour. If a toothpick comes out clean, it's done.
  6. Tip: For a banana nut bread recipe, add 1 cup of gourmet black walnuts to the mix.
