This spicy margarita recipe, inspired by a drink we enjoyed at a Palm Springs resort, is going to be your new favorite cocktail!
Here in California, jalapeño margaritas are quite popular. They are found at resorts and restaurants throughout the Southland.
During a recent visit to Rancho Mirage near Palm Springs, we enjoyed the Westin Mission Hills Resort’s award-winning Caliente Margarita. We were fortunate enough to get the recipe from the bartender so we could make it at home!
What’s in a spicy margarita recipe?
The resort’s Caliente Spicy Margarita ingredients include Tanteo Jalapeño Tequila, Grand Mariner and Grapefruit Juice. Their Spicy Margarita Mixer is the Island Oasis Premium Margarita Mix, which is sweetened with Agave Nectar.
If you want to make your own jalapeño tequila, it’s actually quite easy! You simply add 2-3 sliced jalapeños to a bottle of tequila and steep it for 12-48 hours. Then, just strain the seeds and jalapeños out and pour it back into the bottle with a funnel.
For the Spicy Margarita Rim, all you need is a plate of Tajin seasoning. You rub the rim of the glass with some lime juice and coat the rim well. Finally, garnish with a fresh lime wedge or fresh sliced jalapeño.
