Red Frog Coffee Roaster

If you ever find yourself vacationing near Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica, don’t miss a stop at Red Frog Coffee Roaster, a traditional open-air soda in the heart of La Fortuna.

La Fortuna is one of our favorite vacation spots. The people are kind and hospitable, the food is amazing, and there are so many outdoor activities to enjoy!

Red Frog Coffee Roaster’s iced coffee is too good for words!

Red Frog Coffee Roaster is fabulous whether you go for breakfast, lunch or dinner. In fact, we found ourselves returning time and time again for some of that incredible freshly roasted coffee and their delicious Costa Rican meals.

For breakfast, you can’t miss their famous Arenal Roasted Ice Coffee. It is so smooth and delicious, I wish we could transport it here to the U.S. The beans are grown by Vista al Valle coffee farm located in Naranjo, Costa Rica.

The iced coffee really pairs well with Erica’s World Famous Banana Bread, a signature item at the restaurant which is served with fresh tropical fruits and a drizzle of chocolate sauce.

They also have delicious fresh squeezed juices, and of course the typical Gallo Pinto breakfast.

Red Frog makes a delicious typical Costa Rican meal for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

When we went back for lunch, we all tried something different so we could taste everyone else’s dishes. We ordered the Costa Rica Chimichanga, Tico Taco with salad and fries, a traditional Chicken Casado, and a seafood casado with all the sides.

The Tico Taco was like an American style taquito, served with salad and fries.

We were really pleased with all of our dishes, and wished we had a longer stay in La Fortuna so we could try more of their menu items.

The Chicken Chimichanga was stuffed with fresh avocado, melted cheese and beans.

Of course, we had to sample some of their alcoholic beverages, which were so fresh and delicious. One of my favorites was the Pina Colada, served with a fresh wedge of pineapple. No matter what you order on the menu, the presentation is spot on!

The restaurant makes wonderful specialty cocktails, including this fresh Pina colada.

Before you leave, be sure to check out their little shop inside. We stocked up on several of their signature hot sauces, which are all amazing! (We are a bit of hot sauce snobs, haha.) You can also check out some of their Costa Rican coffee making equipment in the back of the restaurant.
