1/2cupsimple syrupsee notes
2ouncesfresh lemon juiceoptional
1/4cupWilson Creek Sangria Sparkling Wineoptional, for floating
Instructions
Pour bottle of the rosé or peach sparkling wine into a Blendtec or Vitamin blender. You can also use a large Ziplock bag or 9x13 casserole dish. Freeze 5-6 hours. It will not completely be frozen due to the alcohol content.
Make simple syrup, if using by bringing 1/2 cup sugar and ½ cup water to a boil in a pot until sugar dissolves. Cool completely, at least 30 minutes.
Bring out blender from freezer, or scrape frozen wine into your blender.
Add lemon juice (if using) and 1 cup crushed ice and blend until smooth.
Place blender back into the freezer about 20-40 minutes, or until the slushy is thickened to your liking.
Blend again and pour into glasses. Float with the sparkling sangria wine, if desired.
Notes
Optional: Add 3 cups frozen strawberries or raspberries to the mixture for a fruit-forward punch!
