Deep Dish Quiche Recipe with Spinach and Bacon

Ingredients for Elegance

Every ingredient in this quiche plays a pivotal role in creating a variety of flavors: Spinach and bacon bring comfort and richness, baby portabella mushrooms add an earthy, gourmet touch, gruyere cheese provides that irresistible melt and nutty flavor, while diced green onion offers a hint of sharpness and color. Eight eggs and three cups of cream ensure a tall, creamy, and drool-worthy quiche.

Choosing Your Crust

The foundation of your quiche can be as simple or as homemade as you like: opt for my homemade pastry crust if you love the process and want that extra touch of love in your baking, or use pre-made refrigerated pastry pie dough for gourmet taste with less prep time.

The Magic of the Springform Pan

Why does this quiche feel so special? It’s all in the presentation. By using a 10-inch springform pan, you achieve a deep, tall quiche that’s not only visually impressive but also allows for a generous serving size. The high walls of the springform pan help contain the luxurious custard, ensuring every bite is packed with flavor.

Preparation Steps

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 425°F.
  2. Prepare the Crust: Roll out the pie dough to fit around a 3-inch springform cheesecake pan, covering both the bottom and sides. Ensure there are no holes in the dough to prevent egg leakage. Bake the crust for 5 minutes at 425°F, then remove from the oven.
  3. Cook Fillings: In a pan, sauté the bacon, mushrooms, and spinach. Once cooked, drain any excess liquid.
  4. Mix the Filling: In a bowl, combine eggs, half and half or cream, half the cheese, and green onions. Add salt, white pepper, and dry mustard to taste.
  5. Assemble the Quiche: Lower the oven temperature to 375°F. Spread half of the remaining cheese over the bottom of the pre-baked crust. Pour the egg mixture into the crust. Add the sautéed bacon, mushrooms, and spinach on top.
  6. Bake: Bake for 50-60 minutes or until the quiche is set. Check if additional time is needed.

Serving Suggestions

Serve this quiche warm, perhaps with a light salad dressed in a vinaigrette to cut through the richness. A glass of crisp white wine or sparkling water makes it a meal to remember. Whether for brunch, lunch, or a dinner party, this deep dish quiche will impress and satisfy.
