Cowgirl Creamery, housed in a restored barn along the Point Reyes coast, is famous for its artisan cheeses, served in top restaurants throughout the United States. Today, this celebrated company has two shops in California, and one in Washington D.C. Foodies flock to this charming creamery to stock up on fresh-made fromage, take a class, or take part in their weekly cheese-making tours.
On Wednesdays-Sundays, you can peek through the glass window to watch how cheese is made, or sign up for their $5 cheese tasting class. Offered at 11:30 a.m. Fridays, the behind-the-scenes experience includes a 60-minute presentation about cheese, followed by a delicious tasting. The creamery’s Petaluma location offers tours at 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays. This experience, geared toward adults only, includes a a cheese-making demo, tasting and a cheese sampler to bring home.
